A person does not need to be a member of that specific religion to receive care at that hospital

The care can be given in accordance with those specific religious beliefs

Non profit

• They do not have shareholders

• They are not out to make a profit

Private Hospital

Financed by shareholders who invest money in the facility and expect a profit or return on their investment.

Government hospital

This type of hospital may provide care for military personnel and their dependents as well as veterans.

Specialized hospital

In this type of hospital the physicians, nurses, and other staff are highly trained to meet the needs of these specific groups.

long term care

This type of facility provide care to people who need nursing or other professional healthcare services on a regular basis.

Assistant living facility

Good option for people that can’t live at home alone safely, but doesn’t need continuous care the long term care facilities offer. 

Patients are able to perform many of their own activities of daily living (ADL’s) but may need assistance for some tasks.

Offers seprate rooms while doing housekeeping and assistance

Practitioners office

Healthcare providers provide examination and diagnosis for both sudden and long term illness.

Laboratories 

Performs tests on blood and other bodily fluids to assist the diagnostic process.

Emergency medical service

Designed to provide care to the the ill and injured people as quickly as possible.

Extend medical care from the emergency room of a hospital into the community.

Home healthcare

This type of service is offered in the patients home.

Rehabilitation center

This type of facility focuses physical, occupational, mental, or psychological, and behavioral modification therapies.

Hospices

It focuses care on the ill individual as well as on the family members.

Only offered to patients that have six months or less to live.

• The president appoints the Secretary of Health & Human Services who advises on health and welfare plans, policies, and federal government programs.

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

• Established a system that monitors and prevents disease outbreaks.

• Guards against international disease transmission.

• Maintains health statistics.

• Provides immunization services.

FDA (Food and Drug Administration)

• Ensures that foods are safe

• Ensures that cosmetics are safe

• Ensures that medication and medical equipment is safe and useful.

National Institutes of health

The world's premier medical research organization, supports research projects working to end diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, arthritis, heart ailments, and AIDS.

World Health Organization 

• An internal agency sponsored by the United Nations and is the directing and coordinating authority on international health.

ALA (American Lung Association) 

• Fights lung disease with an emphasis on asthma, tobacco control, and environmental health.

• Lobby for laws and regulations related to lung health at the national, state, and local levels.

March of Dimes

• Improves the health of babies, working to prevent birth defects, and reducing infant mortality.
