Energy
The ability to do work or to cause change.

Potential Energy
Energy that is stored.

Kinetic Energy
Energy being used.
Motion (Mechanical Energy)
Energy involved in movement; examples include a bicycle moving, a person running, or a windmill turning.
Light (Radiant Energy)
Energy from light sources such as the sun, fire, stars, and light bulbs.

Sound
Vibrations that can be heard.

Electrical Energy
Energy where wires and batteries turn electrical energy into other forms; natural forms include lightning and static electricity.

Magnetic Fields
Magnetic force fields created around magnetic objects such as electromagnets.
Heat (Thermal Energy)
Thermal energy associated with heat; examples include an oven, hair dryer, or toaster.
Chemical Energy
Energy stored in chemical bonds; examples include digesting food, gas in a car, or burning wood for heat.
Work
A force acting upon an object, causing that object to move in the direction of the force.
Conservation of Energy
The law stating that energy can change forms but cannot be created or destroyed.
Solar Power Transformation
The transformation of light energy into electricity using solar panels.
Hydroelectric Power Transformation
The transformation of mechanical energy from water into electricity using dams.
Wind Energy Transformation
The transformation of mechanical energy from wind into electricity using wind turbines.
Steam Engine Transformation
The conversion of thermal energy into mechanical energy.

Energy Transformation
The process where energy changes from one form to another to do work.
