The sun is shining
The sun is emitting bright and clear light in the sky.
Blinding sunlight
Extremely strong and intense natural light from the sun that makes it difficult to see.
Weak sunlight
Natural light from the sun that is not very bright, strong, or intense.
The sun sets
The daily disappearance of the sun below the horizon in the evening.
Full moon
The phase of the moon when its whole disc is illuminated and visible from Earth.
Crescent moon
The phase of the moon when only a curved, thin edge is illuminated.
New moon
The phase of the moon when it is completely dark and invisible from Earth.
Pitch dark/black
A state of absolute, 100% complete darkness where nothing can be seen.
Stars twinkling
The phenomenon where stars appear to flicker or change slightly in brightness in the night sky.
Fluorescent light bulb
A type of energy-efficient glass tube or bulb that produces light using electricity and gas.
Bright light
Strong, intense illumination that fills an area with high visibility.
Faint glow
A very dim, soft, and weak light that is barely visible.
Flickering candle
A candle flame that moves unsteadily and shines unevenly.
Dim light
Soft, low-intensity illumination that is not very bright.
Cast a shadow
To block light and create a dark shape or area on a surface behind an object.
Sit in the shade
To position oneself in an area that is protected from direct sunlight (under a tree, umbrella, etc.).
Bright/strong lighting
An artificial lighting system that provides high levels of illumination inside a building or room.
Soft/subdued lighting
A low, gentle level of artificial illumination often used for artistic, calm, or romantic purposes.
Street lights
Tall lamps lining a road or public path to illuminate it at night.
Power goes out
A sudden and complete failure or disconnection of the electrical electricity supply.
Power outage
A period of time during which there is a lack of electrical power in an area.
Plunged into darkness
Suddenly and completely thrown into a state of total lack of light.
Complete/total darkness
A state of absolute and perfect dark with no light sources present.
Light candles
The act of setting fire to the wicks of candles to produce light.
