These are the general safety Regs that every member must consider when designing
Maximum allowable height-to-track-width ratio
≤1.25
Minimum roll bar clearance above the driver's helmet
>50mm, extending beyond the driver's shoulders
Permissible actuation mechanism for prototype braking systems
Hydraulic circuits only (cables and wires are prohibited)
Minimum surface area and width for the front brake pedal
Minimum surface area of 10cm2 and a minimum width of 3cm
Minimum frontal crumple zone depth ahead of the driver's feet
100mm between the front vehicle body and the driver's feet
Minimum corner radius for exterior vehicle body points
50mm, unless covered with foam or deformable material
Minimum surface area required for each rear-view mirror
2500mm2 (e.g., 50mm×50mm)
Minimum mounting point configuration for the driver safety harness
Five mounting points attached to the vehicle's main structure, locking into a single buckle
Minimum load capacity required for each safety harness mounting point
Must withstand a minimum force of 200N in any direction
Maximum allowable unassisted driver egress time while fully harnessed
Less than 10s
Driver compartment emergency opening requirement
Operable via a single intuitive action from both inside and outside without tools (adhesive tape is prohibited)
Safety requirements for the engine compartment bulkhead
Must protect the driver from open flames, block manual access to the energy compartment, and seal all pass-throughs with grommets and fire-resistant materials
Maximum allowable vehicle height
<1000mm
Minimum vehicle track width and measurement reference
≥500mm, measured between the midpoints where the tyres of the outermost wheels touch the ground
Minimum allowable vehicle wheelbase
≥1000mm
Maximum allowable total vehicle width
≤1300mm
Maximum allowable total vehicle length
≤3500mm
Maximum allowable vehicle weight excluding the driver
≤140kg
Restriction on achieving required vehicle body dimensions
Must not be achieved through design singularities such as 'stuck-on' appendages or cut-outs
Maximum allowable vehicle turning radius and measurement reference
≤8m, measured from the centre of the circle to the external wheel of the vehicle
Dynamic arc test requirement for vehicle turning capability
The external wheel must be able to follow a 90∘ arc of 8m radius in both directions
Steering system clearance and interference restriction
Must be designed to prevent any contact between the tyre and the vehicle body or chassis
