1st Amendment

Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition

2nd Amendment

Right to bear arms

3rd Amendment

Right to refuse quartering soldiers in homes

4th Amendment

Protects people form search and seizure, requires warrens for arrest/search

5th Amendment

Allows for people to have a grand jury, prevents double jeopardy, right to self-incrimination, requires due process of law, right to eminent domain.

6th Amendment

Right to speedy and public trial, confront witnesses, compel favorable witnesses, right to a defense lawyer.

7th Amendment

Trial by jury in civil cases

8th Amendment

Excessive bail/fines and cruel or unusual punishment is not allowed.

9th Amendment

Protects rights that are not listed directly in the Consitution

10th Amendment

Grants power to the states

11th Amendment

Limits lawsuits against states.

12th Amendment

Vice-President and President have their own separate elections.

13th Amendment

Ended Slavery

14th Amendment

Grants citizenship, equal protection of the law, and due process of the law (Selective incorporations)

Government cannot deny the right to vote based on race

Created federal income taxes

Created prohibition (banning of achohol)

Cannot deny people the right to vote based on sex
