location — air sacs in lungs, lining of lumen of blood vessels + lymph vessels

Simple Cuboidal ET

structure — single layer of cells about as tall as they are wide
function — absorption and secretion; forms secretory tissue of most glands and small ducts
location — kidney tubules, thyroid gland follicles, surface of ovary

Simple Columnar ET

structure — single layer of cells taller than they are wide
function — secretion of mucin + movement of mucus along the apical surface of the epithelium by cilia
location — lining of the larger bronchioles of the lung + uterine tubes
