Who was the working memory model developed by?
Baddeley and Hitch (1974)
How does the Working Memory Model differ from the Multi-Store Model?
The STM is no longer passive instead it is an active ‘working’ part of the memory
STM doesnt just code scoustucally
STM isnt a unitary store but is made up of many parts, each with a specalist intent
Think of the Working Memory Model diagram (cause i cant type it so it will be a picture)
:)

Name the different parts of the Working Memory Model and their subparts
Central executive
Phonological loop (articulartory control system and phonological store)
Eposodic buffer
Visuo-spatial sketchpad
Long term knowledge (Language, Episodic LTM, Visual semantics)
What is the central executive:
It controls attension, filters stimuli and coordinates the actions of other slave systems
It can breifly store information
It has limited capacity
It is modality free
What is the phonological
Contains two subsystems:
Articulatory control system:
rehearses inforamation subvocally
Duration of 2 seconds
System we use to mentally rehearse
Phonological store:
Uses a sound based code
Duration of 2 seconds (unless rehearsed by ACS)
Visuo-spetial sketchpad
Stores and manipulates visual information
subdivided → visual cache ( store visual information)
Inner scribe ( records the arrangement of objects in the visual field)
What is the episodic buffer
Intergrates all other inforamtion from other subsystems into one starnd and a single memory
Provides a bridge between working memory and LTM
Tempory store
Limited capacity
Time stamps memories
