Lymphatic vessels
Tiny tubes that carry a special fluid (called lymph) to keep your body clean and healthy.
Lymph nodes
Little bean-shaped filters that catch bad stuff like germs, acting as security checkpoints.
Lymphatic organs
Special body parts that help protect you, such as the spleen (filters blood), the thymus (helps make infection fighters), and tonsils (help fight germs in your throat).
Spleen
Actively filters blood, removes old red blood cells (RBCs), manufactures lymphocytes, and stores blood. Does not filter lymph.
Thymus
More active in pediatric immunity.
Tonsils
Includes pharyngeal (adenoids), palatine, and lingual types.
Thoracic duct
Serves lower extremities, abdomen, left arm, and left side of head & neck. Drains into left subclavian vein.
Right lymphatic duct
Serves right arm and right side of head & neck. Drains into right subclavian vein.
