Setup Step 1: Initial Hand Hygiene
Wash hands with soap and water.
Setup Step 2: Computer Access
Start the log in process for the computer.
Setup Step 3: PPE & Disinfection
Put on gloves/mask and disinfect the unit and sensor twice with CaviWipes.
Setup Step 4: Placing Barriers
Barrier tube head, computer stand, bracket tray, exposure button, panel, and handles.
Setup Step 5: Procedure Supplies
Collect XCPs, cotton roll, rubber band, and sensor cover.
Setup Step 6: Patient Apron Placement
Place lead apron on patient using clean hands or clean gloves.
Setup Step 7: Dispensing XCPs
Dump XCPs onto bracket tray without letting bag touch clean tray surface.
Setup Step 8: Sensor & Software Setup
Plug in sensor and open MiPacs.
Setup Step 9: Equipment Assembly
Assemble XCPs with gloved hands and cover sensor with sleeve.
Setup Step 10: Image Acquisition
Take appropriate images as ordered by the DDS.
Setup Step 11: Image Approval
Have images approved by the DDS or faculty.
Setup Step 12: Retakes
Take retakes only as ordered by the DDS.
Setup Step 13: Apron Removal Post-Approval
Remove lead apron with clean hands or clean gloves after approval.
Setup Step 14: Sensor Check-In (Clinical)
Disinfect sensor and check it back into dispensary (if live clinical setting).
Post-Treatment Step 1: Initial Positioning
Remove sensor from patient's mouth and place tube head in neutral position.
Post-Treatment Step 2: Unplugging & Apron
Remove lead apron with clean hands/gloves and unplug sensor.
Post-Treatment Step 3: Sterilization Transport
Don clean gloves and take contaminated items needing sterilization to dirty cart.
Post-Treatment Step 4: Waste & Sensor Storage
Dispose of non-reusables in trash and place sensor in sensor box.
Post-Treatment Step 5: Final Disinfection
With clean gloves, CaviWipe unit, sensor, sensor box (inside/out), and apron.
Post-Treatment Step 6: Dispensary Return
Return the disinfected sensor to the dispensary.
Post-Treatment Step 7: Computer Reset
Restart the computer before leaving the operatory.
Post-Treatment Step 8: Dosimeter Turn-In
Turn in your dosimeter badge before leaving the lab.
