Ammeter

An instrument used to measure electric current in a circuit, connected in series.

Volt meter

An instrument used to measure voltage or potential difference across components in a circuit, connected in parallel.

Wattmeter

An instrument that measures the amount of power supplied to a circuit, capable of measuring DC and AC power.

Ohmmeter

An instrument used to measure the resistance in ohms; must not be connected to a live circuit.

Power Factor

The ratio of the actual power used in a circuit to the apparent power, used to assess the efficiency of the circuit.

Energy Meter

An instrument that measures electrical energy consumption, usually in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Current

The flow of electric charge, measured in amperes (A).

Voltage

The difference in electric potential between two points, measured in volts (V).

Resistance

The opposition to the flow of electric current, measured in ohms (Ω).

Power

The rate at which electrical energy is transferred by an electric circuit, measured in watts (W).

Series Circuit

A circuit where components are connected end-to-end, so the same current flows through all components.

Parallel Circuit
