Osmosis
Osmosis is the movement of water from a region of higher water concentration (dilute solution) to lower water concentration (concentrated solution) across a semipermeable membrane.
Diffusion
Diffusion is the passive movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration until equilibrium is reached. This process requires no energy input and occurs in gases, liquids, and even across biological membranes.
