1/7
Krebs cycle, Citric Acid Cycle, TCA
Where does Krebs take place in the cell?
Mitochondrial matrix
Metabolons???
Functional units of enzymes
What is the difference between acetyl & acyl?
Acyl has a general formula (R-CXO), while acetyl has (H3C-CXO)

What is pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) comprised of?
E1 + E2 + E3
E1 name, cofactors & f(x)
Pyruvate dehydrogenase, w/ TPP coenzyme
Decarboxylates pyruvate and remaining molecule (hydroxyethyl) is held by TPP
E2 name, cofactors & f(x)
Dihydrolipoyl transacetylase, w/ Lipoic acid/CoA-SH.
Lipoyllysine receives hydroxyethyl from TPP, reducing S, and transfers the now acetyl group to CoA
E3 name, cofactors & f(x)
Dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase, w/ FAD & NAD+
FAD oxidizes the lipoyllysine to renew E2, and the now FADH2 then gets oxidized by free NAD+ to renew E3
State all the byproducts of Krebs in order
1.) Makes CoA-SH
2.) None
3.) Consumes NAD(P)+ and creates NAD(P)H + H+ + CO2
4.)
