Explain how the book of Hebrews demonstrates the supremacy of Christ
Christ is better than the angels because He is seated at the right hand of the Father.
Christ is better than Moses because Moses was a servant and Jesus is the Son.
Christ is greater than the priesthood.
Christ is better than the law because the blood of Christ is what cleanses us.
Why, when reading the book of Hebrews, might a student of Scripture think that apostasy was a possibility? Please cite references.
Hebrews 6:4-6 “for it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.”
Why would we argue that pseudonymity with the pastoral epistles is an unlikely option for authorship?
Pseudonymous writing was extremely uncommon for this period. Tertullian mentioned that in the second century, someone was removed from the church because they wrote a letter under Paul’s name.
Name the qualifications for eldership mentioned in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
Elders should be…above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money, able to manage his household well, not a recent convert, and well thought of by outsiders.
