What is the equation linking moles, mass and Mr?

What is Avogadro’s number?

How do you calculate empirical formula?
Convert mass or percentage of each element into moles by dividing by Ar
Divide each of these by the smallest number
Find the smallest whole number ratio
Write the formula
How do you calculate molecular formula from empirical formula?
Find empirical mass: Add all the atomic masses of all atoms in empirical formula.
Divide molar masses: Divide the given molar mass of the actual compound by the empirical formula mass to find a whole number multiplier (n).
Multiply subscripts: Multiply each subscript in the empirical formula by (n) to get the molecular formula.
Define the term ‘Anhydrous’
A solid crystal or substance that is completely free of any water of crystallisation.
~ written without any water molecules attached (e.g. CuSO4)
Define the term ‘Hydrated’ (or ‘Hydrous’)
A solid salt crystal or substance that incorporates a fixed number of water molecules in each formula unit.
