Soil salinization
accumulation of soluble salts in the soil to levels that reduce soil fertility and negatively affect plant growth. It occurs when salts build up faster than they can be removed.
Eutrophication
the process in which a body of water becomes overly enriched with nutrients, especially nitrogen and phosphorus, causing excessive growth of algae and aquatic plants
Oxygen depletion
occurs when the amount of dissolved oxygen in water becomes too low to support aquatic life. Often a result of eutrophication.
