Motor Neurons

Carry signals from brain or spinal cord, muscles, skin, and glands

Sensory neurons

carry messages form spinal cord and brain

Central nervous system

• responds to sensory information

• sends messages to muscles, glands, organs

• spinal cord- extension of the brain

• Spinal reflexes

  • handles both incoming and outgoing messages

  • acts as bridge between brain and body below

Central nervous system

• all of nervous system outside brain and spinal cord

• allows communications between CNS and sensory systems

  • contains somatic and automatic nervous system

Sympathetic nervous system

• Automatic nervous system

• Fight or flight

• Stress

Parasympathetic nervous system

• Automatic nervous sysyem

• rest & digest

• Peace
