Zero (0/5) MMT Grade
No movement, no muscle activity.
Trace (1/5) MMT Grade
No movement, muscle activity.
Poor minus (2-/5) MMT Grade
Unable to complete full ROM in gravity eliminated (GE).
Poor (2/5) MMT Grade
Full ROM in gravity eliminated (GE).

Good (4/5) MMT Grade
Full ROM against gravity (AG) with mod resistance.
Good plus (4+/5) MMT Grade
Full ROM against gravity (AG) with mod/max resistance.
Normal (5/5) MMT Grade
Full ROM against gravity (AG) with max resistance.
Ely's Test
Patient in prone while the therapist passively flexes the patient's knee;
Ober's Test
Patient in sidelying with lower leg flexed at hip and knee; therapist moves the test leg into hip extension and abduction, then slowly lowers it;
Piriformis Test
Patient in sidelying with test leg toward ceiling and hip flexed to 60 degrees; therapist stabilizes pelvis and applies downward (adduction) force on knee;
Thomas Test
Patient in supine with legs fully extended and brings one knee to the chest to flatten the lumbar spine while therapist observes contralateral hip;
Trendelenburg Test
Patient in standing is asked to stand on one leg for approximately 10 seconds;
WB
Weight baring.
PWB
Partial weight barring.
WBAT
Weight baring as tolerated.
FWB
Full weight barring.
TTWB
Toe touch weight baring.
THA
Total hip arthroplasty.
THR
Total hip replacement.
AP
Ankle pumps.
SLR
Straight leg raise.
HS
Heel slide.
QS
Quad set.
GS
Glute set.
SAQ
Short arc quad.
LAQ
Long arc quad.
LR
Lumbar rotation.
PPT
Posterior pelvic tilt.
Elys test positive indication
a positive test is indicated by spontaneous hip flexion occurring simultaneously with knee flexion and may be indicative of a rectus femoris contracture.
Obers test positive indication
a positive test is indicated by the inability of the leg to lower to the table while in a sidelying position, suggesting a tight iliotibial band or tensor fascia lata.
piriformis test positive indication
positive test is indicated by pain or tightness, indicative of piriformis tightness or compression on the sciatic nerve caused by the piriformis.
Thomas test positive indication
a positive test is indicated by the straight leg rising from the table, indicative of a hip flexion contracture.
Trendelenburg test positive indication
a positive test is indicated by a drop of the pelvis on the unsupported side, indicative of weakness of the gluteus medius muscle on the supported side.
