Volleyball
A game that involves hitting a volleyball over the net using only hands, with the objective of making it bounce in the opponent's half.
Olympic Games
The international sporting event where volleyball made its debut in 1964 and showcases the best players in the sport.
Sets
Games are played in sets, with the team winning the majority of sets declared the winner of the match.
Players
Each team consists of 6 players on the court at a time, with substitutes allowed. Players rotate positions after every point.
Timeouts
Each team is allowed up to two timeouts per set, lasting 30 seconds each.
Court
The volleyball court is rectangular, measuring 18m x 9m, with a 2.43m high net running across the center.
Scoring
Points are scored by hitting the ball within the outlined section of the opponent's half, or if the opponent fails to hit the outlined section or hits the ball into the net.
Serving
The serve must be made from behind the baseline, using an over or underarm action and hitting the ball with only the hand.
Ball Contact
Each team is allowed to hit the ball three times before it must be returned, and a player cannot hit the ball twice in succession.
Blocking
The defensive team can jump and try to block the ball, with a point awarded if the ball bounces in the opponent's half after a block attempt.
Game Winning
To win the game, a team must score more points than the opponent and win the required number of sets.
Violations
Violations include stepping over the baseline when serving, carrying or running with the ball, touching the net, and reaching over the net to hit the ball.
