Lifespan in Chinese Religion
Determined by whom: Netherworld authorities (Lord of Mount Tai, Controller of Fate) via written ledgers inspected by "Emissaries/Supervisors of Record Keeping".
Is it fixed? Generally set, but flexible.
How it changes: Clerical mistakes are corrected to revive people who died early; years can be added for filial piety or raising orphans; or years can be swapped with another living person if spare time remains.
