Rep. André Carson (D-IN-07)

He was also the 38th mayor of Newark from 2006-2013, and served on the Municipal Council of Newark for the Central Ward from 1998-2002.

She is a politician who represents North Carolina’s 12th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives and has served since 2014. She also represented the state’s 58th House District in Guilford County in the North Carolina General Assembly from April 1994 until her election to congress.

Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI)

This politician and attorney has served since 2015 as the non-voting delegate to the United States House of Representatives from the United States Virgin Islands’ at-large congressional district.

Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ-12)

She is a politician who has served as the U.S representative for New Jersey’s 12th congressional district since 2015. She previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1998-2015 for the 15th legislative district. She is the first African-american woman to represent New Jersey in the U.S House of Representatives.

Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE)

This politician has served as the junior United States senator from Delaware since 2017. From 2017-2025, she served as the U.S representative for Delaware’s at-large congressional district. She is the first woman, and first African-american, to represent Delaware in both chambers of congress.

Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX-32)

This politician is a civil rights lawyer and former football player who has served as the U.S representative for Texas’s 32nd congressional district from 2019-2025.

Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-CT-05)

This politician is also an educator who has served as the U.S representative for Connecticut’s 5th congressional district since 2019. She is the first black woman and black democrat to represent Connecticut in Congress.

Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA-06)

She is a politician who has served in the United States House of Representatives from a district in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, since 2019. She has represented Georgia’s 6th congressional district from 2019-2023 and since 2025. She also represented the neighboring district from 2023-2025.

Rep. Joe Neguese (D-CO-02)

This politician is also a lawyer and has served as the U.S Representative for Colorado’s 2nd congressional district since 2019. He is the first Eritrean-American elected to the United States Congress and Colorado’s first black member of Congress. He has also served as the House Assistant Democratic Leader since 2024.

Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-MD-07)

This politician is the U.S Representative for Maryland’s 7th congressional district, first serving from 1987-1996 and again since 2020. In 1996, he became the president and CEO of the NAACP and held his position until 2004.

Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA-05)

She is a politician who is serving as the representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district and as Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. She was also a member of the Georgia State senate for the 39th district from 2017-2021.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY-15)

This politician is from New York and has served as the U.S Representative for New York’s 15th congressional district since 2021. He served as the New York City Council member for the 15th district from 2013-2020. He was also the first openly gay candidate to be elected to legislative office in the Bronx, and the council’s youngest member.

Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D-WA-10)

She is a politician who has served as the U.S representative from Washington’s 10th congressional district since 2021. She is the first member of the United States Congress of both Korean and African-American heritage, and the first African-american member elected from Washington.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA)

This politician is also a Baptist pastor who has served as the junior United States senator from Georgia since 2021. He is the first African-american to represent Georgia in the Senate, and the first Black Democrat elected to the Senate from a Southern state.

Rep. Troy Carter (D-LA-02)

He is a politician who has been serving as the U.S representative for Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district since 2021. He was also previously a member of the Louisiana State senate for the 7th congressional district.

Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH-11)

This politician has served as the U.S representative for Ohio’s 11th congressional district since 2021. She previously served as a member of the Cuyahoga County Council, representing the 9th district. She is also the first woman and the first African-american to serve as the Cuyahoga County Democratic party chair.

Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL-20)

This politician is a businesswoman who has served as the U.S Representative for Florida’s 20th congressional district. She also serves on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-30)

She is a politician and lawyer who has been a U.S Representative from Texas’s 30th congressional district since January 2023. She also previously represented the 100th district in the Texas House of Representatives.

Rep. Don Davis (D-NC-1)

This politician is a former Air Force officer who is serving as the United States Representative for North Carolina’s 1st congressional district since 2023. He also previously presented the 5th district in the North Carolina Senate from 2013-2023.

Rep. Valerie Foushee (D-NC-4)

This politician serves as the U.S Representative for North Carolina’s 4th congressional district since 2023. She was elected to the North Carolina House of Representative for the 50th congressional district and was appointed to represent the 23rd senatorial district in 2013.

Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL-10)

This politician and activist currently serves a the U.S representative for Florida’s 10th congressional district since 2023. He was the previously the national director for “March for Our Lives” and at age 25, is the first member of Gen Z to serve in the United States Congress.

Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD-4)

He is a politician and attorney who has served as the U.S Representative for Maryland’s 4th congressional district since 2023.

Rep. Johnathan Jackson (D-IL-1)

This politician is a businessman and activist who has served as the U.S Representative for Illinois’s 1st congressional district since 2023. He was previously the national spokesman for the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, a financial analyst, and a partner in the Chicago-based beer distributorship River North Sales and Service.

Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA-37)

She is a politician who has served as the U.S Representative for California’s 37th congressional district since 2023. She previously served in the California State Senate. She has also served in the California State Assembly and as a trustee for the Los Angeles Community College District.

Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA-12)

This politician has served for Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district since 2023. She won the primary by less than 1% of the vote and became the first black woman from Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives after winning the general election.

Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13)

This politician currently serves as the U.S Representative for Ohio’s 13th congressional district since 2023. She previously represented the 34th district of the Ohio House of Representatives. She also served as minority leader of that chamber from 2019-2021.

Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-VA-04)

She is a politician and attorney who has served as the U.S Representative for Virginia’s congressional district since 2023. She represented the 9th district in the Virginia State Senate from 2017/2023 and the 71st district in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2009-2017. She is the first black woman elected to Congress from Virginia.

Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA)

This politician is an labor union official who has served as the United States senator from California from 2023-2024. Her career began as a union organizer and she served as the president of California SEIU State Council from 2013- 2023. She is the first openly LGBT African-american to serve in the Senate.

Rep. Gabe Amo (D-RI-01)

This politician has served as the U.S Representative for Rhode Island’s congressional district since 2023. Before running for Congress, he worked in the Biden Administration as the deputy director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Rep. Lamonica McIver (D-NJ-10)

She is a politician who is a member of the United States House of Representatives for New Jersey’s 10th congressional district after winning the September 2024 special election to succeed Donald Payne Jr., who died in office in April of 2024.
