Warning Order (WARNORD)
An order that gives very minimal information, provides only initial instruction, and serves as where the preliminary reading is obtained.
White Smoke
Pyrotechnics and signal smoke that is also used for screening smokes.
Article 5 (Code of Conduct)
The article defining that service members are only required to give name, rank, service #, and DoB when questioned.
Troop Leading Procedures (TLPs)
An 8-step process where Steps 1 & 2 must stay in order.
Herringbone Formation
A vehicle formation used for 360-degree security and defense against air/indirect fire attacks.
Bounding Overwatch
The slowest moving technique.
Offset Formation
A formation used to block third party traffic and assist in lane changes.
Range Card
A visual description of a specific position's sector of fire and the area in it; 2 copies are made in the daylight by the gunner for that position.
Sector Sketch
A visual description of several positions, sectors of fire, and the areas in/around them, of which 2 copies should be made.
Flight Leader
The individual who checks range cards and squad sector sketches.
Rules of Engagement (ROE)
Operational rules driven by Policy, Legal, and Military considerations, consisting of two types: Self defense and Mission accomplishment.
ROE Standards Authority
The commander, who sets ROE standards with help from the Judge Advocate.
METT-TC
A method or tool used by leaders when assessing the operational situation; stands for Mission, Enemy, Terrain, Troops, Time, Civil/Civilian considerations.

The approach paths that leaders should always consider.
TRP
Target Reference Points.
Military Code of Conduct
A military conduct code established in 1955 that contains 6 articles.
3 P's in OPORD
Pens, Pencils, Paper.
Minimum Vehicles for an Operation
4 vehicles required to conduct an operation.
Traveling
A movement technique utilized when speed is important.
Traveling Overwatch
A movement technique where speed is not important as enemy contact is possible.
Column and Inverted T Formation
Two movement formations that work no matter the experience of the drivers.
Mission Statement Requirement
A requirement stating that a mission must be stated twice.
CONOPS
Concept of Operations.
OPORD Format
An operational order structured into 5 paragraphs.
RAMP
A rule or protocol set that works side-by-side with C.O.I.
