Basic Research

• Done to expand general knowledge about psych.

Applied Research

• Used to understand/solve real world issues/aspects

Reciprocal Determinism

We mutually influence each other’s behaviors

Skepticism

• Good when in moderation.

• Reasonable doubt, you can’t believe everything you see, and u need to further investigate.

Naive Realism

• Only believe the things your eyes see.

• Opposite of skepticism

Peer Review

• Others look at research & decide if others should be exposed to it.

• Was good science done, and does it contribute to society?

• Unethical = Bad science

Parsimony

• Come up with the simplest explanation for the largest number of behaviors

• Ex. If you hear hoofbeats your first thought is horses, not zebras.

• Explain what people are actually doing
