Quadratic graph formula for concave positive
Y = x^2
Quadratic graph formula for concave negative
Y = -x^2
Axis of symmetry in a parabola
The vertical line that divides the parabola into two symmetrical parts.
Vertex of a parabola
The turning point of the parabola, which can be a minimum or maximum point.
Roots of a parabola
The x-intercepts, or points where the parabola intersects the x-axis.
Y intercept of a parabola
The point where the parabola touches the y-axis, found by substituting x=0 into the equation.
Formula for positive exponential growth
Y = a^x, always passing through the point (0,1).
Formula for negative exponential decay
Y = a^-x, also passing through the point (0,1).
Composite volume
The volume of a shape made up of two or more simple shapes combined.
SOH CAH TOA
A mnemonic for remembering the definitions of sine (SOH), cosine (CAH), and tangent (TOA) in trigonometry.
Pythagorean theorem
A fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle: a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
Measures of center
Values that summarize a set of data, including mean, median, and mode.
Standard deviation
A measure of the amount of variation or dispersion in a set of values.
Cumulative frequency
A measure that sums the frequencies of the data up to a given point.
Negative skew
A distribution where the tail on the left side is longer or fatter than the right side.
Box plot
A graphical representation of data that shows the distribution based on a five-number summary: minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile, and maximum.
