Standard Normal Distribution
A specific normal distribution with parameters µ = 0 and σ = 1.
Normal Distribution
A continuous random variable distribution with a symmetric and bell-shaped graph.
Bell-Shaped
The characteristic shape of the graph of a standard normal distribution.
Density Curve
The graph of any continuous probability distribution, where the total area under the curve is equal to 1.
Uniform Distribution
A distribution where a continuous random variable has values spread evenly over a range, resulting in a rectangular graph.
Cumulative Area
The area under the curve up to a specific z score in a normal distribution.
Z Score
A measure of how many standard deviations an element is from the mean.
Critical Value
A z score on the borderline separating significantly low or high z scores.
Probability
The likelihood or chance of a specific event occurring, often represented by area under the probability distribution.
Area Between Two Boundaries
The probability corresponding to a range of z scores, calculable by finding the difference between cumulative areas.
