What should be in the primary topic research paper title
A measurement
Content
Accurate sharing of research findings (need to be communicated well or can be confused)
Influencing agricultural practices and innovation (farmers should be able to replicate experiment and obtain the same results)
Informing policy and public awareness (research should be able to bring in money or grants)
Collaborating across disciplines (communicate research well and how it can benefit others- gives you a platform)
Preparing for a presentation- Audience
Audience analysis (level of expertise)
Ask: “are they researchers, undergrad students, farmers, policymakers, or members of the public
Purpose: inform, persuade, inspire
Clear structure: organize your ideas logically so the Audience can follow thr presentation. Each section should connect naturally to the next (conclusion should use vocabulary from the rest of the presentation)
Practice and timing: practice aloud and measure the length of the presentation. Silent reading does not accurately show how long delivery will be
Structuring presentaion
Intro → Body→ Conclusion
Ex. Impact of soil pH on tomato yield
Intro: explain why soil pH matters- The introduction should also state the objective or research topic
Body: present your experiment and data- the body contains the main evidence. In a primary research presentation, this usually includes the methodology, results, interpretation
Conclusion: Recommend optimal pH range…
Verbal and non-verbal communication
Voice clarity and variation
Moderate pace- avoid speaking too quickly- speaking too slowly may also reduce attention- pause briefly after an important result so the audience has time to process it
