Transition Groups Chart
A reference chart categorizing transition words and phrases into four primary groups: 'So', 'and', 'but', and 'for example'.
'So' Transition Group
A category of transition words indicating result, consequence, or logical conclusion, including accordingly, as a result, consequently, fittingly, for this reason, hence, in so doing, in turn, therefore, thus, and to that end.
'and' Transition Group
A category of transition words used to add information or show similarity, including additionaly, besides, furthermore, in addition, likewise, moreover, and similarly.
'but' Transition Group
A category of transition words used to show contrast, qualification, or exception, including actually, admittedly, by comparision, by contrast, conversely, granted, however, in any case, in comparision, in contrast, instead, nevertheless, nonetheless, on the contrary, on the other hand, rather, regardless, still, that being said, that said, and though.
'for example' Transition Group
A category of transition words used to introduce specific instances or illustrations, including for example, for instance, in particular, and specifically.
