Growth Hormone
A hormone originating from the anterior pituitary.
Gigantism
A condition caused by excessive growth hormone before epiphyseal plates close (in a child).
Acromegaly
A condition caused by excessive growth hormone after epiphyseal plates close (in an adult).
Antagonistic Hormone Interaction
A type of interaction where hormones have opposite effects, such as insulin decreasing blood glucose while glucagon increases blood glucose.
Synergistic Hormone Interaction
A type of interaction where two hormones work together to create a stronger combined effect.
Permissive Hormone Interaction
A type of interaction where one hormone allows or enhances another hormone's effect.
