Vocabulary flashcards covering core electricity terms, circuit configurations, components, and concepts from the lecture notes.
Dynamic Electricity
Electricity characterized by flow.
Static Electricity
Electricity characterized by no flow.
AC
Alternating current, characterized as varying.
DC
Direct current, characterized as constant, which can be continuous or pulsed.
Z
The symbol representing impedance.
Electrical Circuit
A path that includes wire and resistance.
Simple Circuit
A circuit composed of a power source (such as a single cell or battery), a path, a control, and a load resistance (such as an indicator light).
Series Circuit
A circuit with one path containing one or more loads, where the same amount of current flows through.
Parallel Circuit
A circuit with multiple connections and many paths.
Ammeter
An instrument that is always connected in series with a circuit.
Voltage
Electrical pressure associated with a source or component such as a battery or resistor.
Resistance
Opposition to electrical flow in a circuit.
George Simon Ohm
The historical figure associated with electrical resistance.
