Drug class
Vasodilator
Mechanism of action
GTN causes vasodilation, reducing preload and cardiac workload while improving coronary blood flow, which decreases myocardial oxygen demand and relieves cardiac chest pain.
Indications
ACS, APO, autonomic dysreflexia
Contraindications (ash-chirp)
Allergy/ADR, SBP <100, HR <50/>150, CVA, head trauma, riociguat, PDE 5 inhibitors within the last 24-48 hours
Side Effects (DHS-RV)
Drowsiness, hypotension, syncope, reflex tachycardia, vascular headaches
Presentation
Spray 400 mcg/dose, 200 mcg doses
Suspected ACS
SUBLING 400 mcg, repeated every 5 minutes no maximum dose
APO
SUBLING 400 mcg repeated every 5 minutes, no maximum dose
