What does ssccc mean and stand for
This is what u should have in a paragraph
SHORT QUOTATIONS - picking concise and useful quotations to use as evidence.
SUBJECT TERMINOLOGY - methods that are used by the writer (language devices).
CONNOTATIONS - zooming in on 1-3 words from the short quotation and using them to highlight your point/evidence.
CONTEXT - revisiting your initial idea/point and you can reiterate/summarise it here.
CONNECT - linking back all your ideas to the question/overall effect on the reader.
Q2 paper one is about language. What’s the layout
The writer uses (THE METHOD) when we are told that/when they describe...¿EMBED
OUR SHORT QUOTATION THAT SHOWS THIS."
This (METHOD) is designed to make the reader feel... (explain how this language device can be used to affect the reader on the surface).
Used here, it (the method) forces us to consider the way in which... this is because.
The writer then builds upon this idea, through the use of the (WORD TYPE) ".." This has connotations of... this can mean that... (zoom in on 1-3 words that highlight and emphasise the point we have made above).
Used here, at this point in the text, this (the method) reinforces the idea that... (link back to main point that you made in the beginning) this is because...
In this way the writer forces us to consider the way in which... (talk about how it affected the reader and how the language device used created an image/these feelings for the reader).
What’s the two things you focus on in Q3 through start middle and end
SHIFT IN FOCUS - when the focus/attention of the writer's is changed/shifted throughout the text (beginning, middle and end).
SHIFT IN TONE - when the writer's attitudes/ feelings/emotions towards something can change/shift throughout the text (beginning, middle end).
Q3 structural devices- how would u present this BEGINNING
START (1ST PARAGRAPH) - The writer chooses to begin the extract by... (explain a brief explanation of how the writer has chosen to open their extract/source) for eg.
Talking about the hyena as a...®embed your short quotation to show this."
The writer places this moment first to cleverly establish... so that... this is in order to... (go back to your main point).
Q3 structural devices- how would u present this MIDDLE
MIDDLE (2ND PARAGRAPH) - As the extract progresses, we see how the focus/ton has shifted from... to... we see this when...
"embed short quotation to show this." This deliberately shifts our focus/changes the writer's tone so that it is now on... we see this shift in the writer's tone/focus because... this is so that our attention is now on/we
now feel/question/understand/consider...
(link back to the main point).
Q3 structural devices- how would u present this END
END (3RD PARAGRAPH) - As we reach the end of the extract, we see how the writer's focus/tone is now on... we see this when...
"embed your quotation to show this." Placed here, this moment leaves us wondering why was there was this shift in tone/focus from the writer? This is because... this links back to/echoes/concludes that... (link back to main point).
