When was the Techen dispute?
1919-1920
It was a territorial conflict between Poland and Czechoslovakia over the rich coal-mining and railway region of Cieszyn Silesia (Teschen) following the collapse of Austria-Hungary.
Brief fighting, known as the Polish-Czechoslovak War, broke out in January 1919 after Czechoslovak forces invaded the Polish-administered portion to stop Polish legislative elections. An armistice ended the fighting, and the Spa Conference partitioned the territory on July 28, 1920. Poland received the city of Cieszyn and the northern half, while Czechoslovakia received the southern half containing the valuable Karviná coal mines and railway.
It's cited as a failure of the League both because the outcome satisfied no one and because it showed disputes being handled by the great powers rather than by the League itself.
