Denotation
The literal or primary meaning of a word, as opposed to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests. It is the specific, direct meaning found in a dictionary.
Diction
the choice and use of words in speech or writing.
Didactic
intended to teach, particularly in having moral instruction as an ulterior motive.
Epistrophe
the repetition of a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses or sentences, often used for emphasis or poetic effect.
Euphemism
a mild or indirect word or expression used in place of one that may be considered harsh or blunt.
Exposition
the systematic explanation of a story's background, setting, and characters, typically found at the beginning of a narrative.
Extended metaphor

Descriptive or figurative language that appeals to the physical senses to create vivid mental pictures and sensory experiences.
