Inter Cardinal
Northwest, northeast, southeast, southwest
True north
The geographic north pole never changesand is the direction along the Earth's surface towards the North Pole, as opposed to magnetic north.
Magnetic North
The direction that a compass points, which is influenced by the Earth's magnetic field and varies from true north.
Magnetic Declination
Difference from TN and MN
Latitude lines
run parallel. equator is 0 latitude. poles are 90 N and 90 S
Latitude
69 miles apart. influences climate. areas closer to the equator have warmer climates, while areas near the poles are colder.
Longitude
or meridians run north to south measured in east or west from the Prime Meridian(0 longitude). Lines of longitude converge at the poles and are widest apart at the equator.
International Date line
The International Date Line is an imaginary line located at approximately 180 degrees longitude, where the date changes by one day when crossed. It serves as the boundary between calendar days.
Coordinates
Latitude and Longitude as a pair (LA,LO) (used to define a specific location on the Earth's surface. )
