What does an alpha beta unsaturated molecules look like
What is an allylic cation
a positive cation located next to a carbon - carbon double bond
The electrons in the double bond are able to delocalise onto the positive charge
On an alpha beta unsaturated molecules where is electrophilic and why
due to it being an example of an allylic cation the electrons can move
Draw the reaction mechanism between an alpha beta unsaturated ketone undergoing 1,2- addition/ direct addition
Draw the mechanism of 1,4 addition/conjugate addition of alpha beta unsaturated ketone
Think about theses compounds and it their alpha beta unsaturated version would readily react 1,2 or 1,4
What about alpha beta unsaturated molecules is bad
They are toxic
As they react with alcohols, amines and thios which are in the body as enzymes
