abdominal cavity
Contains stomach, intestines, spleen, and liver, and other organs

thoracic cavity
The body cavity in mammals that houses the lungs and heart. It is surrounded in part by ribs and separated from the lower abdominal cavity by the diaphragm.

space inside the skull containing the brain

ventral body cavity
The blanket term for the cavity containing both the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities

A sheet of muscle that forms the bottom wall of the thoracic cavity in mammals; active in ventilating the lungs.

horizontal division of the body into upper and lower portions

Frontal Plane
Divides the body into front and back portions.

Sagittal Plane
divides body into left and right

divides body at an angle
