Rule (a) What is considered a vessel?
Anything that can be used as transport on water
Rule (b) Define power driven vessel
Any vessel that is propelled by machinery
Rule ( c ) Define sailing vessel
A vessel under sail, engine not being used
Rule (d) Term ‘engaged in fishing’
Vessel fishing with nets, lines or trawls that restrict manoeuvrability
Rule (e) The Term; Seaplane
Any aircraft designed to operate/manoeuvre on water
Rule (f) Vessel “Not Under Command”
A vessel unable to manoeuvre because of an exceptional problem
Rule (g) Vessel “Restricted in ability to manoeuvre”
Vessel that cannot move due to her work, such as;
Laying cables
Dredging
Surveying
Underwater operations
Rule (h) Vessel “Constrained By Draught”
A power driven vessel that is severely restricted in changing course because of her draught compared with the available depth and width of navigable water.
Rule (i) The term “Underway”
Vessel is not at anchor, made fast to the shore, or aground
Rule (j) Length and Breadth
Length = Length overall
Breadth = Greatest breadth
Rule (k) “In sight of one another”
Vessels are in sight only when they can be seen visually from one another
