In the metric system the unit which represents 1, or the starting point for conversions.
Density
A derived unit which compares a substance's mass to its volume, equation: D=m/v.
Derived Unit
A unit formed by combining two or more base measurements due to multiplication or division.
Length
A distance from point to point using meters, miles, inches, etc.
Mass
The quantity of matter in an object measured in grams, pounds, etc.
Scientfic Noation
A method of writing or displaying numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10.
Temperature
A metric gauging the kinetic thermal energy contained within particle matter, recorded using degrees Celsius, Kelvin, or Fahrenheit.

English/British Imperial system of measurement
the traditional system of weights and measures used officially in Great Britain from 1824 until the adoption of the metric system beginning in 1960. The United States uses this system of weights and measures. Ex. Feet, Inches, Gallons
Conversion
Expressing a quantity in alternate, equal-value dimensions. Ex. 2 miles = 10560 feet
Absolute Zero
The theoretical point of thermal measurement where atomic motion completely ceases.
Displacement Method:
A technique for determining the volume of irregular objects by recording water levels before and after immersion.
theory
a statement based on tested/experimental data
