Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL)

A stretch of DNA that is correlated w variation in a phenotypic trait

Reaction Norm

The pattern of phenotypic expression of a single genotype across a range of environments

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)

A genomic variant at a single base position in the DNA → a one-letter locus in a genome that varies from another genome sequence

Linkage Equilibrium

When an allele at one locus is independent of the presence or absence of an allele at the other locus

Linkage Disequilibrium

When an allele at one locus in associated w the presence of absence of an allele at another locus

Inversion

A chromosomal rearrangement that results from a double strand break & the reversal of the normal gene order as relative to the WT chromosome

Genome-Wide Association (GWA)

Genetic mapping that involves scanning through genomes of many diff individuals, some w, & other without, a trait of interest, to search for markers associated w expression of the trait

Supergene

A group of fxnally related genes located close enough together that they segregate as a single unit

Physical Linkage

When two or more loci are adjacent on the same chromosome
