Cause and Effect
This concept looks at change, focusing on the action(s) or condition(s) that resultedin the event as well as the outcome(s) that result from an event. Could be Long term or Short term. Categorized as Political, Social, Cultural, Environmental, Economic influences or outcomes.
Past and Present
The difference between how something was understood then vs. how it is understood now.
Continuity and Change
What was altered and what has persisted (E.g. Continuity = Long-standing European Anti-semitism…
Change = …became radicalised to industrial mass murder during Holocaust.)
Specific and Generalized
The difference between a particular instance and a claim about a class of cases.
Perspectives
Demonstrate understanding of how a event is separated into different viewpoints/positions and reasons for differences in viewpoints.
Influence and Significance
What something affected, and how much it mattered.
Contingency
Interwined with the concept of change and change over time. Things could have turned out otherwise, and what that depended on.
Reliability and Usefulness
How far a source can be trusted on a point, and what it can be used for. These are separate: an unreliable source can be highly useful.
Bias or Propaganda
A leaning, or material produced deliberately to persuade. Both are evidence of the position they serve.
Intent and Motivation
Reasons or influences behind certain ideas or actions and the influence of said ideas or actions. (What a person set out to do, and why they wanted it.)
