Today, I will convince you that Abraham Lincoln is indeed a real historical hero. He was elected in 1861 as the 16th president of the United States at a very difficult time when the country was about to go through the Civil War.
Although the Northern states wanted the country to stay united and the Southern states wanted to leave the United States, the main aim of Lincoln was to ensure the country stayed united.
In 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which granted freedom to the slaves in the Confederate States and led to the 13th Amendment that abolished slavery in the United States.
Although the war was very difficult and people were separated from one another, Lincoln never lost hope and never gave up on his main aim of uniting the country and granting freedom to the slaves.
Abraham Lincoln was also known as ‘Honest Abe’ because he was honest and had good character. He was the tallest president in the history of the United States at 6 feet 4 inches, was a great wrestler who never lost a match until the one that would change his life.
Coming from a poor background and facing many challenges in life, Abraham Lincoln became a symbol of perseverance and leadership in the fight for freedom.
