Aorta

largest artery

mitral valve

A valve in the heart that guards the opening between the left atrium and the left ventricle; prevents the blood in the ventricle from returning to the atrium.

left pulmonary artery

carries poor oxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the left lung.

right pulmonary artery

takes blood from the right ventricle to the right lung

left pulmonary veins

bring oxygen-rich blood from the left lung to the left atrium

right pulmonary veins

bring oxygen-rich blood from the right lung to the left atrium

right ventricle

pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs

interventricular septum

separates ventricles

left ventricle

Pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta and body

pulmonary trunk

carries blood from right ventricle to pulmonary arteries

right atrium

Receives deoxygenated blood from the body

descending aorta

thoracic aorta and abdominal aorta. Carries blood away from the heart

left atrium

receives oxygenated blood from the lungs

aortic semilunar valve

located between the left ventricle and the aorta

superior vena cava

transports blood from the upper portion of the body to the heart

pulmonary semilunar valve

heart valve opening from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery

inferior vena cava

carries blood from lower regions of the body to right atrium

triscupid valve

valve between the right atrium and the right ventricle

right coronary artery

artery vascularizing the right side of the heart

left coronary artery

supplies blood to the left ventricle, left atrium, and interventricular septum

left anterior descending artery

division of the left coronary artery

left circumflex artery

Supplies oxygenated blood to the posterolateral aspect of the left ventricle

coronary sinus

empties into right atrium

great cardiac vein

runs alongside the anterior interventricular artery

small cardiac vein

Vein that travels along side the right marginal artery.
