Vocabulary flashcards covering the structure and function of ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and the knee and shoulder joints based on handwritten revision notes.
Ligaments
Elastic connective tissues that connect bone to bone, keeping joints stable while still allowing movement.
Tendons
Strong, flexible tissues that connect muscles to bones and allow movement by transferring force from muscle to bone.
Cartilage
A smooth, flexible tissue that cushions joints, absorbs shock, and reduces friction between bones.
Knee joint
A stable, weight-bearing hinge joint that mainly moves forward and backwards, allowing you to bend and straighten your leg.
Shoulder joint
A flexible ball and socket joint that moves in many directions, allowing a large range of arm movements but with less stability.
