make a new timeline, put each clip on another track, then either look at the audio waveforms to connect them or if you have accurate timecodes across clips you can sync with that, do either by choosing Clip→Auto Align Clips. Once this is done you will need to convert the timeline into a multicam clip you can use for editing
how to convert a timeline into a multicam clip you can use for editing?
right click on timeline in the media pool and click “convert to multicam clip” you will no it works bc thee timeline goes away and there’s a new clip in the media pool that shows multiple camera options
why is show audio waveform in source clip not showing up or why can’t you right click on source viewer?
probably because you have a multicam clip in the monitor, switch it out for something else, enable show waveforms, and then switch back
How can you double check everything is in sync when reviewing a multicam clip?
While it’s still a timeline, you can enable and disable certain audio or video tracks. alternatively, if it’s already a clip you can watch it in the source monitor in its default setting of showing all the camera angles at once

You have to have between the clips highlighted and then the playhead where you want it to start/end. You can use this to make J/L cuts
What is flattening multicam clips?
it’s when you remove the option to swap between angles and it’s just the one angle you choose. Highlight all of the audio and video that’s multicam and then select Clip→flatten multicam clip. This can be done before or after it’s been graded but not all grading functions work if you do this
How to make a multicam clip without making a new timeline?
right click on bin in question and then click make multicam clip from selected bin. “Angle Sync” tells Davinci what you want it to sync by ie timecode or sound or etc. Use “Multicam Audio” to decide if it swaps between audio of different angles or just choose the main one by selecting “Reference audio/angle 1”
How to do real time multicam editing?
Go to source viewer dropdown menu, choose multicam (this makes selection box blue for video and green for audio, not red and you can’t see non-multicam clips), choose if you want video, audio, or video and audio transported. now, as you click different angles it automatically makes a blade edit and switches to the new angle! While this is cool it obviously won’t be perfect so this is best used to make a rough cut. you can even just hit 1, 2, 3, etc. to swap between angles instead of clicking
How do you swap out a clip between multicam options if you already have one option selected in the timeline?
hold OPTION before clicking on another clip from the source monitor that is showing the multicam options. You know it’s working because the mouse will swith icons from cut (blade icon) to switch (replace icon) you can also swap to a new one in the middle of the clip by just clicking the new angle
what type of clip is a multicam clip?
it’s a container clip, whereas other clips are not
how do you adjust a multicam clip?
Timeline view options menu→ display stacked timeline, then click any clip you want to look at and select Clip→ open in timeline. This shows you the “parent clip” and the “anatomy” of the multicam clip. this is useful for adding additional angles to a multicam, renaming, etc. close it by doing the same thing but file→ close current timeline
what happens if you adjust the parent clip?
it will change the names as requested but it will not change any of the stuff you did in the timeline
how do you add a new angle to multicam?
you can do this by looking at the parent clip, drag and drop new clip after adding an angle by right clicking on an existing angle and hitting add, then you will have to sync it separately (clip→ auto align clips)
What are your options for synchronizing angles in a multicam clip from video clips without sound? A. IN or OUT points B. Markers C. Timecodes
All of the above! in or out, markers, or timecodes

you can save in project settings window and you can export the preset which becomes a .preset file which can also be imported under the same menu
TRUE OR FALSE you can’t drag and drop clips into the source pool
FALSE, yes you can it works just the same, though at the same time using media page gives you more options
TRUE OR FALSE Davinci is resolution independent
TRUE this means that you can make timelines with clips of multiple resolutions, change timeline resolution, and also change footage resolution
What happens when you import media in Davinci Resolve?
it creates a link to the original clips on the hard drive. doesn’t copy, move, or convert footage
What are the 3 main import types and what do they do?
Add folder into media pool: will import contents from one level inside the current folder
add folder and subfolders into media pool: import contents of folder and contained folders inside (this is what automatically happens when you drag and drop)
add folder and subfolders into media pool and create bins: preserves folder structure as done in the original hard drive folder
how can you sync new footage to bins without importing all the new stuff and organizing again?
if it’s already in the right folders, and you’ve imported with “add folders and subfolders and create bins” then you can just use “resync media files” and new footage will automatically be added
how do you sync audio and video in davinci?
In media tab, shift click to put the video and audio all together in the viewer. With video clip you want selected, open Inspector panel, select the file tab, scroll down to audio configuration panel, then right click necessary bins and select “auto sync audio” and while timecodes is preferred waveform also works and is why they record camera audio. hitting OK you have successfully synced it as long as a warning doesn’t show up saying otherwise. You can now see all the other audio channels have been added!
what is it called when the audio recorded in the camera isn’t good enough or just a reference?
a scratch track
What does mono, as opposed to adaptive, do to the audio?
mono audio puts everything into one track, whereas adaptive puts each one in their own track
