Id-ul-Adha
The most important Muslim festival, also known as the festival of the Sacrifice, which honors the test of faith of Ibrahim.
Hajj
The pilgrimage to Mecca, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Shahadah
The Islamic declaration of faith, one of the five pillars.
Sacrifice of a lamb
A ritual performed during Eid-ul-Adha, where the lamb is divided into three parts: one for the family, one for friends and family, and one for the poor.
Eid-ul-Fitr
A Muslim festival celebrated at the end of Ramadan marking the end of fasting.
Zakah
The mandatory act of giving to charity, which can be given during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Ashura
A significant day in the Islamic calendar, celebrated differently by Shia and Sunni Muslims, commemorating different historical events.
Shia Muslims
A branch of Islam that commemorates the martyrdom of Hussein on Ashura.
Sunni Muslims
A branch of Islam that observes Ashura as a Day of Atonement and the significance of fasting.
