how long light is allowed to strike the sensor - depicted by fractions of a second

how sensitive your sensor is to light

dark conditions

Manual mode

you set the whole exposure triangle

Aperture priority

you set the aperture, camera does everything else

Shutter priority

you set the shutter speed, camera does everything else

Program AE

camera sets the aperture and shutter speed, ISO override

How to set exposure triangle

1) set ISO depending on your conditions

2) balance your light meter (at 0)

Equivalent Exposure

If you change the shutter speed or aperture, you change the other to create the same exposure

Shutter full-stop scale
