Introduction Stage
The initial stage where designers preview new seasonal collections (usually Haute Couture) during fashion week in small quantities at high production costs.
Rise Stage
The second stage where manufacturers reproduce celebrity trends using less expensive fabric and mass production, lowering prices and increasing sales and acceptance.
Peak Stage
The stage at the top of the hill where fashion reaches maximum popularity and is manufactured at different price levels, potentially surviving longer as a classic.
Decline Stage
The stage marked by market saturation, decreasing consumer demand, consumer unwillingness to pay high prices, and price markdowns by retailers.
Obsolete Stage
The end of the fashion cycle at the bottom of the hill, characterized by low prices and a lack of consumer interest as shoppers seek new looks.
Three Phases of the Fashion Cycle Graph
