Neoplasm
Abnormal growth of tissue caused by rapid division of cells.
Primary malignancy
The original cancer site where the tumor originated.
Secondary (metastatic) neoplasm
Cancer that has spread from the primary site to another organ or tissue.
Metastasis
The process by which cancer cells from a primary tumor spread to other parts of the body through the blood or lymph system, forming new tumors in distant tissues and organs.

Carcinoma in situ
Early-stage cancer (stage zero) confined to the tissue of origin without invasion into surrounding tissues.
Uncertain behavior
A classification for a tumor that is premalignant and currently benign, but cannot yet be determined as benign or malignant and has a tendency to become malignant.
Unspecified behavior
A classification used when there is no information or least info provided regarding the stage or behavior of the tumor.
Benign neoplasm
A non-cancerous growth of tissue, such as a lipoma or myoma.
Z51 codes
ICD-10-CM encounter codes assigned as principal diagnosis for antineoplastic therapy, including radiotherapy (Z51.0), chemotherapy (Z51.11), and immunotherapy (Z51.12).
Code D63.0
The ICD-10-CM code for anemia in neoplastic disease, sequenced second after the malignancy code when an encounter is solely for managing cancer-related anemia.
Z85 series
ICD-10-CM codes used to report a personal history of malignant neoplasm when the primary malignancy has been excised/eradicated, no active treatment is directed to that site, and there is no evidence of existing disease.
Code C80.0
The ICD-10-CM code for disseminated malignant neoplasm, unspecified, assigned only when a patient has advanced metastatic disease with no known primary or secondary sites specified.
Code C80.1
The ICD-10-CM code for malignant (primary) neoplasm, unspecified, used only when no determination can be made regarding the primary site of a malignancy.
Brachytherapy exception
A coding guideline rule where encounters for insertion or implantation of radioactive elements sequence the malignancy code first and omit code Z51.0.
Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL)
A type of lymphoma developing around breast implants, assigned code C84.7A when active or C84.7B when in remission.
Code Y84.2
The ICD-10-CM code reported for an adverse effect or complication caused by radiological procedure and radiotherapy.
Code subcategory T45.1X5-
