Vocabulary flashcards covering key microscopy terms, including magnification, resolution, Hooke's microscope, and distinctions between high and low resolution.
Magnification
Appearing bigger than its original size, or how much bigger an image looks compared to the actual object.
Resolution
The smallest distance between two points that can still be seen as two points, representing the ability to distinguish two points that are close together as separate points.
Resolution of Hooke's microscope
About 0.002mm, meaning two points that are 0.002mm (or more) apart from one another can still be seen as two points, but if they get any closer they will be seen as one point.
Higher resolution
The ability to see two close points as separate points.
Lower resolution
A condition where two close points may look like one point.
