Lead Based Paint
Paint that contains lead which can damage the brain, nervous system, kidneys, and blood, particularly affecting children under six.
Lead Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act
A 1996 regulation requiring disclosure of known lead based paint hazards to buyers or renters.
Radon
A colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas produced from the decay of radioactive substances, classified as a known human carcinogen.
Carbon Monoxide
A colorless, odorless gas that is a byproduct of burning fuels, resulting from incomplete combustion.
Mold
Fungi that can grow on organic substances where moisture, oxygen, and a food source are present.
Underground Storage Tanks
Tanks that store hazardous substances or liquid petroleum products underground, often found at gas stations or auto repair shops.
CERCLA (Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act)
A 1980 law that created a process for cleaning up hazardous waste sites and identifying responsible parties.
