Period 5

Period 5 is centered around the civil war. But most of this unit focuses on what were the agitators leading up to the war causing tension between groups of people and what the results were from the war.

The unit starts off with the idea of manifest destiny. This idea was that Americans had a divine right to expand the American territory westward in order to civilize this land.
